Regional Setting
One of the attractions of the university is its international setting. The city of Konstanz is situated in the southernmost part of the Federal Republic of Germany, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. With a population of 80,000 it is the largest city on Lake Constance and a focal point in the „Euregio Bodensee“ (the European region that includes the vibrant economies of western Austria and eastern Switzerland). Konstanz is renowned as a tourist center, thanks to its attractive natural surroundings, extensive recreational opportunities and its historical and cultural riches. But the city also enjoys a long-standing reputation for high performance industry and innovative research and development facilities. The hi-tech companies in the Konstanz region are valued partners of the HTWG, especially regarding the arrangement of practical semesters for students and preparation of their final-year theses.
