    Become a CHINA expert

Thank you for your interest in our bachelor’s program in Asian Studies and Management China. Our 7-semester program prepares graduates for the complexities of doing business in China. Students learn how Chinese markets and companies work, develop the management skills needed for international business, and strengthen their intercultural skills.
The program is based on a solid combination of courses that provide you with both language and cultural-diplomatic skills, as well as a wide range of business-economic content. Courses are taught using a hands-on approach, allowing you to immediately put these skills into practice when you start your career.
One of the highlights of the program is a complete year abroad that includes one academic semester at a university and an internship semester at a company or organization. This gives you a deeper understanding of the culture, mentality and everyday business practice, as well as real-world skills for Greater China you select.

    • I was only interested in a cross-sector business degree. The combination of language, intercultural and management studies focusing on China in this program was a perfect fit to my interest in languages, cultures and travel in connection with business-related courses. In the meantime, I’ve added an MBA from Antai College at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University and now work at one of the leading suppliers in the automotive industry.

    • Not only did I learn lots of new things during my year abroad in Taiwan, but I also discovered what I want to do in the future. After completing the program, I decided to get a master’s degree in culture and environment. But it was actually my strong background in business and economics from the bachelor’s degree at the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz that helped me make the jump to the renewable energy sector.

Sarah Westenberger, Sales Manager Asia Pacific bei Enercon

    • The international focus of the program at the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz is its core strength and has had a strong impact on both my professional and personal development. When I was applying for jobs, the well-known companies were particularly impressed by this part of my CV. This was the reason I decided to do the trilingual management master’s program at the Eastern Paris Federal University.

Enes Portakalci, Competitor Intelligence Analyst bei Unilever, Netherlands

    • The still unique combination of a solid Business and Asia-focused cultural degree was the deciding factor when I picked the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz as my choice for university education. Especially the program's focus on establishing a deep understanding of different cultures in the work environment is something that has made it very easy for me to start working in the Asia-Pacific region.

    Curriculum

    • Preliminary Studies

The preliminary studies (semester 1 and 2) part of the Asian Studies and Management program cover the following subject areas: business administration, economics and business law, regional studies for China, and of course the corresponding foreign language Chinese. From the very beginning, you take courses and work on projects together with students from China, which gives you the opportunity to work on your language and intercultural communication skills.

    • Main Studies

During the main studies (semesters 3-7), students spend three semesters in Konstanz and two semesters in China (one academic and one internship semester). The main studies build upon the fundamentals covered previously and are expanded to include international aspects.

    • Year Abroad

The heart of the main studies is the year abroad (semesters 5 and 6). This gives you the opportunity to expand on your knowledge in language, regional studies, intercultural communication and applied business administration studies. The first of the two semesters abroad is spent studying abroad at one of our Chinese partner universities. The second semester is spent working for a company in Greater China.

    • Thesis/Degree

The last step in getting the degree is to complete a written bachelor’s thesis on an area of international management in Asia. You have many options here in terms of topics. The bachelor’s degree gives you international qualifications for entry-level positions. You can also go on to get a master’s degree right here at the University of Applied Sciences or at a university abroad.
