You came to the HTWG Konstanz to get a bachelor’s or master’s degree. To make sure you have a smooth adjustment to university studies, we offer a wide range of events for new students.
These include orientation programs, welcome events, preparatory courses and workshops – all to help you get off to a good start.
There are a number of welcome events for new students offered on the first days of the semester. This is a great way to learn about all the offerings and activities available to students:
All new students are invited to come to the campus auditorium (the “Aula”, Room A 025) for our welcome event (the “Erstsemestereinführung” or ESE). It’s a chance for us to say hello and give you important information for you to have a smooth start at our university.
The main welcome event in the summer semester 2025 will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 (Departments of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (EI), Computer Science (IN) and Mechanical Engineering (MA)), and Thursday, October 2, 2025 (Departments of Architecture and Design (AG), Civil Engineering (BI) and Business, Cultural and Legal Studies (WS)), starting at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium (doors open at 9:00 a.m.) and online.

We offer a fair to introduce new students to all of the options you have to learn and experiences things outside your major. Our Fair of Opportunities takes place on:
Mon., March 17th from 11:00-14:00 in Building P 001. Come and check it out!
At our university, students enjoy a wide range of facilities and services on campus. Join a Campus Tours on March 17 to find out where important facilities and support points for your studies are located. The tour starts every 30 minutes between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The meeting point is the yellow statues on the central plaza. Just come along, no prior registration needed!
Your own degree program also offers its own introductory event for new students.

The HTWG Konstanz offers a range of preparatory courses and workshops for new students to get you ready to start your studies. These courses are open to domestic / German students as well as all international students. These courses take place before the start of the semester and are intended as a refresher course for math, English and other key study skills – and are a great chance to meet other students!
We highly recommend taking part in these courses / events.
Warming Up is a two-day orientation event organized by the Intercultural Center, offering workshops of study skills and communication. Target Group: new domestic / German and international bachelor’s students.

The Warming-Up event is free of charge. Your registration is binding – meaning we expect to see you there. The number the participants is limited, and it’s first come, first served.
Target Group: for students who need to work on their English skills to prepare for English-language courses in the upcoming semester. Registration is required!

Credits: Students who complete this course receive 3 ECTS points. You may be able to receive credit for the course from your degree program. Please clarify this with the department.

We offer two prep math classes, one for students with the German “Abitur” and one for students without.
New dates will be available before the start of the next semester.
ViaMINT is an online, video-based learning platform to help prepare students for university-level studies.
ViaMINT offers the following:
Learning modules for math, physics, chemistry and computer science, holistic learning using videos and various exercises and much more!
Register: anyone can set up a free viaMINT account. HTWG Konstanz students and their families can sign up using their HTWG account.
