    Technical Information

We’ve put together a list of some key technical issues that new (and some returning) students often ask.
These involve your student ID, getting an email address, etc.

    1. Getting your student ID (ZACK card)

All students need to get a student ID (known as a “ZACK” card). You need this to take books out of the library, enter certain building on campus, make copies on campus, purchase food at the cafeteria (Mensa), and more.
To get your ZACK card, you will need to fill out the following form and send it the “Studentische Abteilung”:
(This form also needs to be used if you lose your Student ID)

    Student ID form (in German)

You then need to validate your ZACK card in either the F-Building or the library.

    2. Setting up a user account / email account

The information for setting up a HTWG user account from our computer center was sent to you along with the enrollment information.
For a description (in German), take a look at this video
(see 3.1 and 3.2 on the video list)

    3. Technical Support

If you’re having technical difficulties, you can contact the following departments:

    Helpdesk (technical issues):
    rechenzentrum@htwg-konstanz.de

    Student IT support:
    studi.support@htwg-konstanz.de

    4. Course access for at-risk groups

If you belong to an at-risk group and cannot attend in-person classes, please contact the dean of your department to find a technical solution (e.g., hybrid classes) that allow you to attend.

    Social Life

There are lots of fun things to do in Konstanz and the Lake Constance region beyond studying. Start by getting to know our Beach Bar, one of the hotspots in Konstanz, or the student-run Café Endlicht.

Then check out our “Studying in Konstanz" page. You’ll find more links there.

For more up-to-date cool places in town (restaurants, bars, parties), just check in with your fellow students.

Enjoy your time as a student!
