    Our English-language degree programs allow international students to study in Germany without any German language skills when they start their studies. During their studies, our students work on future-focused topics in a wide range of projects and labs, supervised by experienced professors from industry.

    • Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

      Degree: Bachelor of Engineering
      Language of Instruction: English

      The bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology prepares you for tomorrow’s technologies and technical challenges. You’ll gain a foundation in the natural sciences and learn current working methods in electrical and information engineering  and then apply this knowledge to real-world areas such as autonomous systems, electric mobility, smart grids, Industry 4.0, and renewable energy.

      With a wide range of elective courses, you can tailor your studies to your personal interests. Over the course of the program, our students learn to understand complex technical systems, see how they connect, and develop practically-oriented solutions to specific technical challenges.

    • Sustainable Engineering and Future Technologies

      Degree: Bachelor of Engineering
      Language of Instruction: English (and German held lectures from 3rd semester onwards)
      Areas of Spezialization: Energy Science and Technology, Sustainable Mobility, Environmental Engineering, Data Based Engineering, Robotics and Cyberphysical Systems
      Length of studies: 7 semesters (including Integrated Internship Semester)

      Applied artificial intelligence, the shift to renewable energy, sustainable mobility, and environmentally friendly processes share one requirement: The challenges only get solved when experts from different disciplines work together.

      The bachelor’s program in Sustainable Engineering and Future Technologies combines mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, which  gives you a broad foundation in engineering and the ability to apply it to future-oriented issues such as energy and environmental engineering, sustainable mobility, data-driven engineering, and robotics. This interdisciplinary approach prepares you to work on complex technological challenges that bring together different fields of engineering.

      Electronic devices and technical products should be affordable, reliable, high-performance, and sustainable. Turning a technical idea into a successful product takes more than technical development, though: production, supply chains, logistics, costs, and sales also play an important role.

      The bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering and Management therefore combines electrical and information technology with business and management. You’ll learn how to develop and manage technical products and processes cost-effectively, across their entire life cycle—from development and manufacturing through use to reuse and recycling. This combination enables you to align technical decisions with economic efficiency and sustainability.

      The International Engineering and Management bachelor’s program combines engineering and management with a clear focus on international contexts. Each of these areas are covered thoroughly in the program. This builds an understanding of technical concepts, the economic and organizational side of projects, as well as intercultural skills.

      International experience is an integral part of the program: You will spend one or two semesters abroad—for example, at a partner university, during your internship semester, or working on your bachelor’s thesis at a company. Courses on topics such as intercultural competence and international accounting complement the technical and business education. This combination prepares you for careers in international project management, sustainable supply chain management, procurement, circular-economy consulting, and many  other fields.

    • Smart Mobility Systems

      In the Smart Mobility Systems bachelor’s program, you’ll explore the full spectrum of modern mobility—from smart bicycles and highly automated cars to autonomous ships, connected transportation systems, and smart infrastructure.

      You’ll build broad technical knowledge in electrical and information technology, control engineering, AI, software engineering, sensor technology, environment perception, electric drives, and modern mobility systems. That knowledge is put to work in specialized labs and research projects—for example, on the research boat Solgenia, which can dock autonomously, or in projects on connected vehicle services. This interdisciplinary program opens up career opportunities for you in fields such as autonomous driving, driver-assistance systems, electric mobility, and connected vehicles.

    • Applied AI Transformation Management

      Degree: Master of Engineering

      Artificial intelligence has become an important part of strategic planning for companies and organizations. Successful use of AI  however involves more than just the technology: solutions have to be evaluated, implemented, and integrated into organizations in a responsible and sustainable way.

      The master’s program in Applied AI Transformation Management focuses precisely on this intersection between AI, business, and organizational transformation. You will learn to identify suitable AI use cases, assess their economic potential, develop appropriate governance approaches, and transition solutions from the pilot phase to production. Topics include AI transformation and change management, governance and compliance, technical fundamentals of AI, use-case discovery and value realization, as well as the implementation and scaling of AI initiatives.

    • International Management Asia-Europe

      Degree: Master of Arts

      The International Management Asia-Europe (MIM) master’s program focuses on economic relations at the intersection of Asia and Europe. Students explore the complexities and risks of international business relationships while developing a deeper understanding of management issues in the Asian context.

      The degree program combines management concepts with methods of complexity and risk management, country-specific strategies, and intercultural skills. You will learn to assess international business situations from different perspectives and to develop strategies for specific challenges in Asian markets. In addition, you can earn a double degree at our partner university, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST), and gain additional experience in an Asian business environment.

    Our practically-oriented degree programs equip you with skills you can apply directly in your future career. After successfully completing their studies, international graduates can also apply for a residence permit valid for up to 18 months to look for a job in Germany.

    Studying in an International Network
    The HTWG is networked with universities worldwide and is a campus where people from different countries come together. Our Intercultural Center also helps international students settle in with welcome and orientation programs, a buddy program, courses in intercultural communication, and advising and coaching support throughout their studies.

    Learning German, Step by Step
    You don’t need to speak German to start our English-language degree programs. During your studies, you can take German courses parallel to your studies. This gives you German for everyday life and a head start if you want to start your career in Germany.

The Swiss border is only a short walk from campus; Zurich and Austria’s Vorarlberg are about an hour away.
