    Application for Recognition of Certificates

    • After provisional recognition, you will receive an email allowing you to apply only to universities of applied sciences in Baden-Württemberg.
    • Final recognition for enrollment may require notarized copies of your diplomas by mail or by post; you will be informed after you have been admitted.

Please keep in mind: If you want to study in Germany, you need to have your transcripts recognized first. Since this process takes time, you should start it right away if you are considering studying in Germany.

      • Your username (your login name for the Campus Portal) is generated automatically and sent to you by email with the activation link for your account.
      • Activate your account using the link we sent you.
      • Once your account has been activated, you can begin the online application process on the Campus Portal.
    • Step 2 – Start the Online Application on the Campus Portal

      • Select the bachelor’s degree program you would like to apply for.
      • Please have all the documents and supporting materials listed on the application form ready. You need to upload these to the relevant sections and enter details such as grades, time periods, and degrees.
      • At the end of the online application process, you will receive a summary sheet that lists all the information you entered.
        Please review this information carefully.
You can correct your entries as needed.
      • If all the information is correct, confirm your application:
Confirm the application by clicking „Antrag stellen“.

      Applying to Multiple Degree Programs

You can submit up to three bachelor’s applications for different degree programs at the HTWG Konstanz at the same time.
You need to upload your documents for each application.

If you have already submitted more than three applications, but wish to apply to another program, first withdraw one of the existing applications in the Campus Portal before submitting another application.

    • Step 3 – Upload Documents

For each application, you need to upload certain supporting materials and documents, such as:

      1. Proof of a higher education entrance qualification (school-leaving certificate / diploma)
      2. Proof of a (preliminary) certificate of recognition from Studienkolleg Konstanz
      3. Proof of participation in a study orientation procedure, e.g., was-studiere-ich.de (only available in German)
      4. Tabular résumé /CV
max. 2 pages with the following content:
      • Your contact information
      • Personal information
      • Your academic and school background
      • All internships and part-time jobs
      • Extracurricular qualifications

      Please Note:

      • The documents must be uploaded separately for each application and each degree program.
      • Please upload a complete set of application documents by the applicable deadline (cut-off date) at the latest.
      • Only applications for which all required documents have been submitted by the deadline will be considered in the selection process.

Tip: Keep your login details safe (username for the Campus Portal and password).
We recommend that you print this information out or write it down and keep it in a safe place.

    • Step 4 – Check your Application Status on the Campus Portal

On the Campus Portal, you can:

      • View the current status of your application,
      • Add additional applications,
      • Withdraw applications you no longer wish to pursue.

      Email notifications

If the status of your application changes, you will automatically receive an email, provided you did not disable these notifications during registration.

      Missing documents

The Campus Portal shows you which documents are still missing or need to be submitted.
If a missing document is blocking your admission, upload or submit it by the application deadline so that your application remains valid.

      Withdraw and edit your application

As long as your application has the status “received online”, you can “withdraw and edit” it to change your information or upload additional documents later.

If your application already has the status “in progress” or “valid,” you can no longer make changes to the documents yourself in the portal.
In that case, please send the supporting documents:

      • By email,
      • Including your applicant number and the degree program you are interested in,
      • Preferably in PDF format,
      • To the staff member assigned to your case.

If you are applying to multiple programs (including at other universities)

You can view all applications we have received on the HTWG Konstanz Campus Portal.

The Hochschulstart portal gives you a combined overview of all applications you have submitted via Hochschulstart, including those to other universities in Germany.

    • Step 5 – Admission (offer) or Rejection
      • After the application deadline, we will review all complete applications received on time.
      • You will be informed via the Campus Portal whether you have been admitted or rejected.
      • We will make your letter of admission available to you via the Campus Portal.
      • The letter of admission for degree programs is provided electronically only. You need to download it on the HTWG Konstanz Campus Portal.

For privacy reasons, we cannot provide information regarding the status of your application over the phone. Please use only the Campus Portal to check the status of your application.

    • Step 6 – Enrollment

If you wish to accept your admission at the HTWG Konstanz, you must enroll at the university.
Please note that the letter of admission includes a deadline for acceptance and enrollment.

      To enrol at HTWG:

      1. The first step is to apply for enrollment through the Campus Portal (application portal).
      2. You must send all the documents required in the letter of admission by post or bring them with you when you come to the office. If you don't, you will lose your place.
Please do not forget to sign them. These documents include:
        Enrolment form
        Data security forms
        Form about you education history
Proof of English language proficiency (check your degree program's Statutes on Admission for details)
Proof of your residency status (or visa)
        Proof of health insurance
Photo for the student ID card

      3. You will first need to hand in your original diplomas and certificates at Studienkolleg Konstanz (on the HTWG campus). You will get your final certificate of recognition there.

      4. Make sure you pay the fees for the semester and tuition on time, and sign up for health insurance.
    • Step 7 – After Enrollment

After you enroll, you will receive:

      • Information about orientation sessions and, if applicable, preparatory courses,
      • A provisional written confirmation of enrollment,
      • Your username and password for your student account.

      Using your student account

You can usually start using your personal user account three business days after you enroll at the university, but no sooner than five business days after the start of the semester (which usually begins on September 1 or March 1).

      Student ID Card

Once you have enrolled, you can collect your HTWG Konstanz student ID card ("ZACK") from the campus.

Written confirmation on the Campus Portal

After enrollment, you can print your written confirmation of enrollment from the HTWG Konstanz Campus Portal.

Degree programs with restricted admission vs. programs with open admission

Some degree programs at the HTWG Konstanz have open admission. This means that all applicants who submit a complete set of required documents will be admitted. There is no selection based on certificate grades or similar criteria.

You must still “apply” for these degree programs as specified.

For degree programs with restricted admission, the selection criteria for each program (e.g., grades of the higher education entrance qualification, assessment of program-specific achievements, completed vocational training) are set out in the statutes on admission and the university’s own selection procedure.

Trial study program (only for "Sustainable Engineering and Future Technologies")

This program is a special offer for prospective international students, who are interested in studying “Sustainable Engineering and Future Technologies”, but do not fulfil the requirements to study in Germany.

This means: Your secondary school diploma entitles you to study in the relevant field in your home country, but not in Germany. In order to be admitted directly to study here, you would need to either pass the exam (“Feststellungsprüfung”) offered by the Center for International Students (Studienkolleg) program at the HTWG Konstanz or have completed one or two years at a university in your home country.

The International Pathway Program offers you another option: You can start the program after completing the aptitude test, and then have two semesters to show that you fulfil the study requirements. If you complete these requirements, you can continue your studies as a fully matriculated student.
