    How do we know how your certificates should be assessed?

    Our decisions are based on the assessment regulations of the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB), unfortunately only available German. 
    You also have access to this database (anabin)
    Click on “School-leaving qualifications with university access” and then on “Search”. You can then select the country in which you obtained your school-leaving certificate/degree.

    The admissions database of the DAAD is also based on the ZAB's assessment proposals and available in English
     

    Which documents do you need to send?

    Please submit the following documents:

    Certificates for university admission 

    Copies of all school-leaving certificates that qualify you for university admission in your country of origin. If these documents are not in English or French, please also provide certified translations. Each certificate must include: 

    • An overview of subjects and grades.
    • The grading system, including the minimum and maximum possible grades and the minimum grade required to pass. The grading system is often printed directly on the certificate (front or back). If not, you can usually find it on your school’s or university’s website (e.g. in the examination regulations) or request it directly from the institution.

     

    University degree (if applicable) 

    If you have completed university studies, please aditionally submit: 

    • A copy of your original degree certificate.
    • A transcript of records/grade report.
    • The grading system, including the minimum and maximum possible grades and the minimum passing grade for the final examination.
    • Certified translations of these documents if they are not in English or French.

     

    University entrance examination (if applicable)
    In some countries, a separate university entrance examination is required for admission to higher education. If this applies to the country where you obtained your educational certificates, please also submit a copy of the university entrance examination certificate (with translation, if not in English or French).

    • China

      Required Certificates

      School-leaving certificate from 2019:

      Digitally sealed APS certificate (with TestAS result if applicable)
      University entrance examination (gaokao)
      National secondary school leaving examination (huikao)
      Graduation from upper secondary school
      Subject and grade overview of grades 10-12 with the school's grading system

      DSD schools

      Original confirmation from the DSD coordinator
      University entrance examination (gaokao) or acceptance for a place at a 211 university
      German language diploma
      Completion of foreign language secondary school
      Overview of subjects and grades for grades 10-12 with the school's grading system

      If you have studied in China:

      Digitally sealed APS certificate
      Bachelor's degree certificate if you have completed your studies
      Overview of subjects and grades of the university with grading system
      High school diploma

    • India

      Required Certificates

      Important: If all your educational certificates are included in the digital APS certificate, we no longer need any documents by post.

      Digitally signed APS certificate
      Copies of your school certificates of classes X and XII with subject and grade overview and grading system of the school (usually on the back of the certificates)

      Study in India:

      Copy of the overview of subjects and grades with grading system of your university (with minimum and maximum grades, if you have completed your studies, the minimum and maximum values for obtaining the degree)
      Bachelor's degree certificate, if applicable

      If you require the recognition of educational certificates that are not included in the APS, we need these documents sealed and hand-signed by the university in an envelope closed and sealed by the university.

       

    • Nigeria

      Verification of secondary school leaving certificates

      West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC)

      From Nigeria, we can only accept certificates issued by either WAEC or NECO. We cannot accept certificates issued by a local school in Nigeria.

      We require a copy of your scratch card (token) for online verification of certificates.

      General Certificate of Education (GCE)

      Your official school leaving certificate from the Advanced Level Examination and Ordinary Level Examination with the grading system on the back of the certificate

      We only accept documents sent directly to us by the issuing university in a sealed envelope as proof of study.

       

    • Vietnam

      Required Certificates

      Digitally signed APS certificate
      Notarized copies of your school leaving certificate (Bằng Tốt Nghiệp Trung Học Phổ Thông) with grading system
      Notarized copies of the university entrance examination (Kỳ Thi Tốt Nghiệp Trung Học Phổ Thông Quốc Gia)
      For DSD-I and DSD-II proof of the German Language Diploma I or II of the KMK and additional confirmation from the DSD coordinator as proof of identity

      If you have already studied in :

      Notarized copies of your transcript of records, if you have completed your studies also of your Bachelor's degree certificate
