    International Pathway Program for International Applicants

    Join our Trial Study Program!

    This new program is a special offer for prospective international students, who are interested in studying in one of the HTWG Konstanz bachelor’s programs but do not fulfil the requirements to study in Germany. 

    This means: Your secondary school diploma entitles you to study in your home country, but not in Germany. In order to be admitted directly to study here, you would need to either pass the exam (“Feststellungsprüfung”) offered by the Center for International Students (Studienkolleg) program at the HTWG Konstanz or have completed one or two years at a university in your home country. 

    The International Pathway Program offers you another option: You can start the program after completing the aptitude test, and then have two semesters to show that you fulfil the study requirements.
    If you complete these requirements, you can continue your studies as a fully matriculated student.

    This Trial Study program would allow you to study in our Sustainable Engineering and Future Technologies degree program. Other degree programs may be available in the near future.

    This is how our International Pathway Program works:

     

    • You study together with the other enrolled students in the degree program, taking regular classes and exams.
    • You need to complete at least 40 credit points (ECTS) within two semesters.
    • You need to get credit points in the following courses:
      • In the Sustainable Engineering and Future Technologies degree program:
        Language Basics / Machine Design and CAD / Mathematics 1 / Electrical Engineering / Hands-on Experience
         
    • If you complete the Trial Study requirements, you will be officially admitted to the program and can continue your studies in the degree program. You may also continue your studies in a related HTWG Konstanz degree program, such as mechanical engineering or electrical engineering and information technology.
       
    • If you cannot complete the Trial Study, you will unfortunately not be able to continue your studies at the HTWG Konstanz.
    • The International Pathway Program is Appropriate for:

      Trial Study is a good fit, if all of the following points apply:

      1. You would like to study in the Sustainable Engineering and Future Technologies (SET) program.
         
      2. You have a diploma from a foreign secondary school which allows you to study in your home country
         
      3. This diploma does not permit you to study in Germany.

      4. You have the necessary language proficiency level (for Sustainable Engineering and Future Technologies: B2 English level)
         

       

    • The International Pathway Program is NOT Appropriate for:

      Trial Study is not appropriate for you, if one of the following applies:

      • You would like to study something other than Sustainable Engineering and Future Technologies (SET).
         
      • Your request to have your documents recognized allows you to apply directly for degree programs at the HTWG Konstanz.
         
      • You have a German secondary school diploma.

    How to Apply to the International Pathway Program

    We look forward to your application. This is the procedure:

    STEP 1: Diploma Recognition

    Have your diplomas and certificates recognized by the Center for International Students (Studienkolleg) at the HTWG Konstanz.

    The results tell you whether you can take part in the Trial Study program or apply for our regular degree programs.

    Documents are recognized > you can apply for our regular degree programs

    Documents are not recognized, but admission to the prepratory year program > you can apply for the Trial Study program

    STEP 2: Aptitude Test

    We would like to determine whether the Trial Study program is the right path for you before you invest time and money in pursuing a degree in Germany.
    The results remain valid for future applications.

    You need to show proof that you have taken and passed one of the following tests:
    (Some tests are available only in German or only in English.)

    STEP 3: Prepare application documents

    Collect all important documents that you need to apply for the International Pathway Program.

    Application Documents

    • Diploma recognition (from the Studienkolleg)
    • Result from one of the aptitude tests
    • Proof of language proficiency (at least B2 English)
    • Complete chronological CV in English or German
    • Statement and proof: Have you already taken part in a similar Trial Study or similar degree program in Baden-Württemberg? Did you interrupt the Trial Study program there?

    SCHRITT 4: Advising session

    (Can be submitted up to your enrollment at the latest. We recommend that you set up the session early and if possible before the application deadline.)

    The deans in the degree program will set up a 15-minute online advising session to discuss the format and requirements of the Trial Study.

    STEP 5: Apply online

    You apply on the Website for the degree program as described under “Application Process”, , via the campus portal.

    Keep in mind: Select the option “Bewerbung starten für das Probestudium” und NOT “Reguläre Bewerbung starten”.
