This refers to full-time bachelor’s or master’s students from abroad as well as international students spending 1-2 semesters at the HTWG Konstanz.
WHAT is the Intercultural Center?
Why do people act and communicate the way they do in Germany? Why do people in other countries do things differently? And how can we get along better with people with different cultural backgrounds? In order to raise awareness of our own and other cultures and improve our “intercultural skills”, the Intercultural Center (IKZ) offers a wide range of courses, workshops and services for HTWG Konstanz students, faculty and administration.
Our main focus is on providing intercultural training and support – whether you are dealing with the local German culture or planning to study or do an internship abroad. However we also offer workshops, classes, and events to help you be more successful in your studies, improve your language skills, and find a job or internship after your studies.

Intercultural Skills
Are you planning to spend a semester or year abroad? Or to work internationally after your studies? We offer intercultural training classes and workshops to prepare you. Or complete the “Studium International” Certificate to get international credentials for your CV.
Academic Success
Take part in our Warming-Up event to prepare you for your first semester at the HTWG. Take a look at our Working Internationally workshops to help get ahead in your studies. Or join our Buddy Program to either find an upper class student to support you or support an incoming student.
Languages
Language skills are essential for your studies and most jobs. Instead of taking a class, how about working on a foreign language informally in a café? Then take part in our Tandem Learning program. We also offer advanced Academic German classes for international and refugee students.
International Careers
The IKZ is also here to help you get started in your career. We offer Career Workshops, a Career Day event in the summer semester, and also organize company tours to give you an inside perspective.
The IKZ offers services for the following groups:
- Domestic / German students
This group includes all students who have graduated from German secondary schools or completed the German requirements to study at a German university of applied sciences.
- Prospective refugee students
This refers to all refugees interested in pursuing their studies at the HTWG Konstanz who have been granted asylum or refugee protection, whose refugee status is pending or have the “tolerated” status.
What do other students have to say about our programmes?
