More about the Intercultural Center
The IKZ, part of the International Office since 2016, focuses on supporting full-time international bachelor’s and master‘s as well as refugee students (Refugees@HTWG).
In addition to offering classes, workshops, events, and advising services, the IKZ aims to create a welcome culture and to create networks between students and between students and staff on campus.
Our Team
Andreas Heller, M.A. (Project Coordinator, Communication Trainer, Translator)
Andreas Heller, originally from the United States, has been living and working in Germany for 18 years. He’s spent much of this time at the HTWG Konstanz, working as an adjunct instructor, in-house translator, and now in the Intercultural Center. He also works as a freelance translator, trainer and coach. He completed bachelor’s degrees in Economics, German Literature, and Psychology (Binghamton University) and a master’s degree in Second Language Studies (University of Hawaii).
Andreas got his theoretical background in the intercultural field in Hawaii, carrying out research in culture shock and reverse culture shock and taking courses with renowned researcher, Richard Brislin. He gathered his practical knowledge by having lived in multiple countries and regions and traveling extensively.
Andreas is known for his supportive, empathic style.
Christine Lang, M.A. (Project Coordinator and Intercultural Trainer)
Christine Lang, originally from Konstanz, completed her studies in French Cultural Studies and Intercultural Studies with a minor in Business Administration and Social Psychology at the Saarland University in 2007. She was involved in numerous German- French projects before taking on the job of festival manager for an international culture festival in Berlin. In 2015, Christine moved back to Lake Constance with her family.
She has been working as a projector coordinator and intercultural trainer in the HTWG Konstanz Intercultural Center since 2017.
Christine is known for her reliability and her empathic style.
Majula Kebbeh, Advisor for Refugees
Majula Kebbeh has been running the Refugees@HTWG office (part of the Intercultural Center) for the past year. She is the main contact for prospective and current refugee students. Her personal experience as a refugee student (originally from Gambia) has made her a very strong asset to our team.
Nadine Schneider, Student Assistant
We're very fortunate to have Nadine Schneider, a master's student in the Architecture program, as our student assistant for the 2023-24 academic year. Nadine has supported us in the Warming Up program, Tandem Learning, and in redesigning our marketing materials.
