The following international students are exempt from paying tuition at the HTWG Konstanz:
- Citizens of European Union countries
- Citizens of countries in the European Economic Area
- If you have completed your secondary studies (entitling you to study at the university level) in Germany
- If you were enrolled in a Studienkolleg preparatory course in Baden-Württemberg prior to the winter semester 2017/2018, you are not required to pay tuition in the degree program you select immediately after completing your Feststellungsprüfung exam.
- Swiss citizens as well as their spouses / life partners or children, that can verify that they are employed in Germany
- The spouses / life partners or children of a European Union or European Economic Area country with certain stipulations. Please contact us for more information.
- If you have a settlement permit or an EU permanent residence permit in accordance with the Residence Act (AufenthG)
- If your normal residence is in Germany and are recognized outside the Federal Republic of Germany as a refugee within the meaning of the Convention relating to the Status of Refugees of 28 July 1951 (Federal Law Gazette II 1953 p. 559, 560) and are entitled to reside in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany on a more than temporary basis
- If you are a permanent resident in Germany and have a residence permit pursuant to Sections 22, 23 (1), (2) or (4), Sections 23a, 25 (1) or (2), Sections 25a, 25b, 28, 37, 38 (1) sentence 1 no. 2 or Section 104a AufenthG or a residence permit pursuant to Sections 30 or 32 to 34 AufenthG as the spouse/life partner or child of a foreigner with a settlement permit
- If you are a permanent resident in Germany and have a residence permit in accordance with Section 25 (3) or (4) sentence 2 or (5) or Section 31 AufenthG or a residence permit in accordance with Sections 30 or 32 to 34 AufenthG as the spouse/life partner or child of a foreigner with a residence permit and have resided in Germany legally, permitted or tolerated for at least 15 months without interruption
- If you have lived in Germany for five years and have been gainfully employed during this time
- If at least one of your parents has lived and worked for at least three years over the past six years prior to your studies
- If you are considered a homeless foreigner in Germany
- Tolerated foreigners (Section 60a AufenthG) who have their permanent residence in Germany and have been residing legally, permitted or tolerated in Germany for at least 15 months without interruption; Section 18a (1) no. 7 AufenthG applies accordingly.
- If you are enrolled under agreements that guarantee exemption from charges If you have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree program or a state examination or diploma degree program in Germany, you are required to pay second degree tuition.
