Academic Info

This page is intended for all current HTWG Konstanz students. Here you can find answers to a wide range of practical and bureaucratic questions – ranging from your student ID and tuition fees to your internship semester.

    Deregistering from your Studies

If you decide to end your studies, you need to deregister (exmatriculate) from the HTWG Konstanz. To do this, you need to submit a request before the end of the re-registration period This is done via the  registrar's office either by email or in paper form and requires a “release statement” (Entlastungsvermerken) from your department and the library. If you do not submit this by the end of the re-registration period, you will unfortunately receive a reminder to pay your normal student fees plus an additional late fee.

    Deregistration Request

Please note: It is not possible to enroll again after you deregister. In this case, you need to re-apply to the HTWG Konstanz.

If you deregister within one month after classes start, you can apply to get a refund for the tuition and/or semester fees.

The “release” from your degree program, degree program and the library can be done via email.

    Library Release

Email to your department / degree program

Please drop off your student ID with a short note that you are ending or interrupting your studies in the mail boxes in the A-Building.

    • De-registration after completing bachelor’s-/master’s thesis

If you complete your studies in the current semester, you do NOT need to re-register. In this case, you submit a deregistration (exmatriculation) request (see above).

To complete your studies in the current semester, you need to submit your bachelor’s or master’s thesis (and the oral bachelor’s/master’s exam) by the last day of the semester.

      Summer semester: August 31

      Winter semester: February 28/29

If you’re unsure if you’ve completed all exam requirements by the end of the semester, then re-register for the coming semester.

For all questions about diplomas, please contact your degree program.

    • Do not deregister when directly starting a master’s program

Do not deregister, if you start a master’s program right after completing your bachelor’s degree. You keep the same matriculation number in the master’s program.

Diplomas You will receive your diploma if you submit your deregistration request (with the release statement from the department and library) by the end of the re-registration period as soon as you have received your final grade and we have prepared the diploma.

For students in the EI the department: Students in the EI department, need to request their diplomas on the EI portal.

    • File your deregistration documents for your retirement

You need to keep your deregistration documents to show that you were enrolled as a student when they calculate your retirement benefits.

In case you lose these, you can request a copy from the German Rentenversicherung (V510) free of charge by sending a written request.
