Micro Degree: "International Competences - Communicate. Collaborate. Contribute."
What is the Micro Degree?
The Micro Degree is intended to prepare students for an international career.
The Micro Degree in International Competences is an additional qualification to your bachelor's or master's degree that involves gaining a range of key skills, such as experiences abroad and intercultural knowledge. These are practically-oriented skills that you gain during your studies, which bring you in contact with students from other degree programs, which prepare you for working in international teams.
Who can participate? The Micro Degree is open to all full-time HTWG students!

Structure of Micro Degree:
The Micro Degree consists of 30 ECTS points in five competence modules:
COMPETENCE AREAS | CONTENT | ECTS |

M1 International Experience | Study or internship abroad (for at least 12 continuous weeks) as part of your studies. This is worth 15 regular ECTS points and includes a self-learning / reflection component. 10 ECTS points are counted towards the Micro Degree. | 10 |
M2 Intercultural Knowledge and Competences | This involves completing 1-2 courses in intercultural communication (or related) plus an additional term paper. This is worth 5 ECTS points towards the Micro Degree. | 5 |
M3 International Engagement | Students need to participate in 2 HTWG programs that support international students. These include our Buddy Program, Tandem Language Exchange, Helping Hand, or your own project. 3-5 ECTS points are counted towards the Micro Degree. | 3-5 |
M4 Language Skills
| These are regular courses (NOT regular language courses) taught in a foreign language taken in your major or during your time abroad. These courses need to cover at least 20 ECTS points. Writing your thesis in English counts here as well. This is worth five ECTS in the Micro Degree. | 5 |
M5 International Academic Knowledge | Students must complete courses with a specifically international focus, such as “International Management” oder “International Logistics” | 5-7 |

Completion & Registration
- Completion: After you have successfully completed and submitted all of the requirements in the five competence areas, you will receive a certificate signed by the HTWG president!
