International Management Asia-Europe
Our fully English-taught, three-semester program—or four semesters with the optional double-degree track—develops advanced knowledge and analytical skills for business at the Asia–Europe interface. With a focus on the complexity and risks of international business, the interdisciplinary curriculum covers economic, political, legal, and cultural dimensions, preparing graduates for leadership roles in internationally operating organizations.
Application Deadlines
The application deadline for the MIM program is June 1. The program starts exclusively in the winter semester. Please note that all application documents must be received by this deadline.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview, which will take place at HTWG Konstanz – University of Applied Sciences in mid-June. Admission decisions will be made by mid to late July. Classes begin at the beginning of October.
Formal Requirements
To be admitted to the MIM Master’s program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A completed three- or four-year undergraduate university degree
- A minimum grade point average of 2.5 (according to the German grading system, where grades range from 1.0 = highest grade to 5.0 = lowest grade)
- Proof of advanced English language proficiency (at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR)
- Successful completion of the departmental interview.
Personal Requirements
We are looking for applicants who value a productive, internationally oriented learning environment and who are interested in business, legal, and regional studies related to Asia.
We seek students who are eager to learn, flexible, committed, and able to manage the workload of a compact and intensive degree program. In addition to advanced English language skills, applicants should demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to reflect on intercultural interactions and experiences.
Conditional Admission
Credits and Transfer of Credits
The three-semester Master’s program in International Management Asia-Europe is designed for a workload of 90 ECTS credits and requires applicants to hold a previous university degree comprising at least 210 ECTS credits.
Applicants holding a six-semester bachelor’s degree with 180 ECTS credits may be admitted on a conditional basis. These students are required to complete the missing 30 ECTS credits before completing the Master’s program. Consequently, they must have accumulated a total of 300 ECTS credits upon completion of their Master’s studies.
Due to the intensive workload of the program, completing the additional 30 ECTS credits alongside the regular three-semester study period (A, B, and C semesters) is generally not feasible. Therefore, we offer a preparatory semester in which students can acquire the missing credits before beginning their Master’s studies.
Please note that the MIM program always starts in the winter semester. Students who complete the preparatory semester in the winter semester may begin their Master’s studies in the following semester; however, they will follow a different study sequence: B semester, followed by A semester, and then C semester.
Students admitted on a conditional basis are required to complete selected courses from the Bachelor’s program in Asian Studies and International Management. The required courses are determined individually in consultation with an academic advisor. Previously completed coursework will be taken into consideration when developing the individual study plan.
Credits and Transfer of Credits
In addition to the courses selected by students and their academic advisor to fulfil the required ECTS credits, credits from previously attended universities may also be transferred. Please use the Credit Transfer Form.
The regulations for completing the Master’s program under conditional admission are described in the following document:
The courses to be completed by students admitted on a conditional basis are determined during an advising session with the departmental dean. Please complete and submit the following document to the departmental dean within the first three weeks of the semester:
