The Master's program 'Business Management' (BWM) is divided into three semesters (standard period of study). In the first and second semesters, you attend compulsory courses in five subject areas. In addition, you take courses in one of two specializations. In the third semester, you devote yourself to writing your Master's thesis.

Courses are conducted in German or English. The language of instruction is also the language of examination. You may write your Master's thesis in German or English.

The workload for successful completion of your Master's program in the compulsory and specialization areas is 90 ECTS credits.

A study abroad period is possible as part of your Master's program. Find out more on the page In Studies.

    • Practical Semester

As part of the Master's programme in Business Management, you have the opportunity to complete a voluntary internship semester at a company in the UK or abroad. This allows you to reinforce your personal focus areas – for example, in your chosen specialisation – with practical experience.

If you are still 30 ECTS credits short, the practical semester is a proven way to earn the corresponding credits. The practical semester lasts 20 weeks or 95 days of attendance, during which you work at the company.

Personal advice and support, for example in finding a suitable internship, is available from the Internship Office BW, which also offers a Moodle course with lots of information.

    • Master's Thesis

In the third semester, you write a Master's thesis on a topic of your choice. With successful evaluation of the thesis, your studies in 'Business Management' end with the degree Master of Arts (M.A.).
