Studying Abroad

Students enrolled in the Master’s program in International Management Asia-Europe (MIM) have numerous opportunities to integrate international experiences into their studies.

In cooperation with Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST) in Taiwan, students can apply for a place in the international Double Degree program. In addition, students can gain valuable international experience through the MIM elective course Industrial Sessions in Asia. This elective is offered once a year and includes an extensive study trip to one of the three Asian regions: East Asia, South Asia, or Southeast Asia. Accompanied by one or two MIM professors, students gain unique insights into international business environments and economic cooperation through participating in this program.

Students who do not wish to spend an entire year abroad for the Double Degree programme may instead complete a voluntary study semester abroad at one of our partner universities in Asia through the Asian Campus Courses program.

Additional opportunities for a voluntary semester abroad are provided through the diverse programs offered by the https://www.htwg-konstanz.de/en/academics/international-office/welcomeHTWG International Office, which maintains a global network of approximately 80 partner universities.

Double Degree Option

The MIM International Management Asia-Europe program is one of the pioneers of Double Degree opportunities at HTWG. Currently, interested students can apply during the winter semester for a place in the Double Degree program at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST), which includes a one-year study period abroad.

Upon successful completion of their studies at STUST and a final semester at HTWG Konstanz dedicated to writing their Master’s thesis, graduates of this program are awarded degrees from both universities.

As part of the HAW.international project at HTWG, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), we are currently negotiating with several additional partner universities – including institutions in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia – to further expand our Double Degree network. The goal is to establish additional partnerships and create more opportunities beyond the five places currently offered through the STUST agreement.

Industrial Sessions

The annual elective course Industrial Sessions is a two-week study excursion to an Asian partner country, providing students with a unique opportunity to combine academic learning with hands-on international experience. Each year, the destination alternates between China, Japan, India, and selected countries in Southeast Asia.

The program typically includes visits to companies and organizations from both the profit and non-profit sectors, as well as visits to local universities, where students participate in workshops and engage in exchange with their peers. A cultural program is an integral part of the experience, enabling students to gain deeper insights into the host country, its culture, and its society. The excursion is accompanied by two faculty members from HTWG Konstanz, who provide academic guidance and support throughout the entire trip.

The Industrial Sessions are a key highlight of the program, uniquely combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience while fostering intensive personal and intercultural learning.

Asian Campus Courses

Master’s students also have the opportunity to study abroad at one of our Asian partner universities through the Asian Campus Courses program. Students take courses at the partner institution and receive academic credits that count toward their master’s degree at HTWG Konstanz. This experience enables them to gain valuable international exposure, further develop their language skills, explore specific academic topics in greater depth, and gather inspiration for their master’s thesis.
