    Short Biography

    of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Max Bühler, MBA, PMP, P.Eng.

    Michael is a Member of the T20/G20 Task Force TF7 Infrastructure Investment & Financing, Member of the G20 Global Infrastructure Hub Academic Advisory Panel, Member of the OECD Executive Consultation Group of the Blue Dot Network, Accredited Member EU Gaia-X platform development team focussing on Smart Infrastructure Management as well as Member of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) Advisory Council on Civil Engineering

    Currently, Dr Bühler is working on the formation of a data cooperative to enable the souvereign data exange of the construction industry and is serving on the board of The International Resilience and Sustainability (inRES) Partnership presently working on the Maun Science Park Project to support the digital transformation strategy of the government of Botswana (SmartBots). He is a Founding Lecturer of the Lean Construction Academy Germany

    Michael is Professor of Construction Business Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Constance, Germany. His research and teaching interests focus on infrastructure planning and development, the future of the engineering profession in the face of complex global challenges and opportunities such as climate change and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Before that, he was Head of Infrastructure and Urban Development at the World Economic Forum, where he drove the global industry agenda in the engineering, construction, real estate and urban services sectors by leading global initiatives, research, strategy and business development as well as community engagement. Prior to joining the WEF, he worked with Deloitte’s Infrastructure and Capital Projects Advisory practices in Vancouver, British Columbia. Previously, Professor Bühler worked as a design manager for the Bilfinger Berger construction group on large construction sites in North America. He has more than 25 years of international, academic and professional experience in the construction, mining and real-estate industries including project management positions and consulting assignments on major capital and P3 projects. Michael has a PhD in civil engineering and an MBA with finance and accounting specialisation.
