    FAQs

    • Module Handbook

The B.A. in Business Administration is structured into modules. A module may be subdivided into several sub‑modules/courses.

The module handbook (currently version 4) details content, scope, learning formats, types of assessment, workload and ECTS credits.

    • Study and Examination Regulations (SPO)

The SPO consists of a General Part and a Special Part for the BWB programme. The faculty council may decide on deviations on a semester basis. For all aspects governed by the SPO, the SPO specifications are legally binding.

The module handbook is subordinate to the study and examination regulations (SPO). For all content regulated by the SPO, e.g. ECTS credits, examination forms, requirements and types, the information in the study and examination regulations is decisive and legally binding. The information in the module handbook supplements and explains the regulations in the study and examination regulations.

    Everyday Studies

    Study Abroad

    Bachelor's Thesis

    • Essentials

The Bachelor’s thesis is an extended written piece of work demonstrating that you can address a problem from your field independently using academic methods within three months. A declaration of originality must be included. Topics may arise, for example, from the practical semester or published calls. In addition to your first examiner (supervisor), you must appoint a second examiner (e.g., professor, lecturer or experienced industry practitioner).

    • Topic

Sometimes a specific topic arises during the practical semester. It's best to contact a lecturer in the Business Administration program whose teaching or research area the topic falls under with your topic proposal. Alternatively, you can browse the list of job postings or ask your professor if there's a topic you're interested in working on.

In addition to the primary examiner, your professor, with whom you agreed on the topic of your bachelor's thesis, you must also seek a secondary examiner: for example, a professor from your own or another program, or alternatively, a lecturer/teacher for special assignments, or someone experienced in professional practice and training.

Important to note: If you want to write your bachelor's thesis at an institution outside the university, the approval of the chair of the examination board is required. In case of doubt, the chair of the BW Examination Board will decide whether a topic is suitable for a Bachelor's thesis.

    • Registration

Once you have completed all other examinations in the Business Administration program and successfully completed the practical semester, register for your bachelor's thesis. Please note that you must submit your bachelor's thesis no later than the end of your tenth semester and that you do not exceed the maximum duration of ten semesters. Therefore, the start date for your bachelor's thesis should be before June 1st in the summer semester (semester end: August 31st) and before December 1st in the winter semester (semester end: February 28th).

When planning your time, please also consider that if you exceed the semester limits even slightly, you will have to re-register for the following semester. Please also consider that an extension of your processing time may be necessary.

The workflow for your bachelor's thesis is provided via the online platform INdigit. Further details can be found above on this page under “Helpful Online Tools and Platforms.”

    • Submission

There is no fixed, prescribed submission format for bachelor's theses. Most bachelor's theses are now uploaded via INdigit and submitted online, then digitally archived for at least five years. A paper archive copy is not required for the BW degree programs; it can be provided after consultation with your primary supervisor.

If your bachelor's thesis does NOT contain a confidentiality notice and/or a confidentiality agreement, you are welcome to submit your final thesis in paper form as a review copy to the BW degree program – for other students to review and orient themselves to. Of course, this does not require permission to copy.

    • Extension

In exceptional cases, the three-month deadline for completing the bachelor's thesis may be extended once by one month. You must submit an informal application, providing plausible reasons for the extension and supporting documentation. The decision on the extension is made by the chair of the BW Examination Board.
