Applied AI Transformation Management
The Master’s programme in Applied AI Transformation Management qualifies you for leadership roles in AI-driven transformation processes. Over three semesters, you will learn how to identify AI use cases, evaluate their business potential, and implement them successfully in organisations — from responsible AI governance to the productive deployment of AI systems. The English-taught programme — all core modules and the master’s thesis in English — combines academic foundations with practice-oriented industry projects and opens up diverse career opportunities in industry, SMEs, and consulting. Application deadlines
MAI accepts applications for both the summer and the winter semester. Application deadlines follow the HTWG master standard:
- Application for the winter semester: by 1 June
- Application for the summer semester: by 1 December
- First cohort summer semester 2027: application deadline 1 December 2026
Admission requirements
Admission requires a relevant bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial engineering, business, computer science, business information systems or a related discipline with a final grade of 2.5 or better (German scale). In addition, the following ECTS thresholds must be evidenced in the bachelor's programme:
- at least 20 ECTS credits in mathematics and/or statistics,
- at least 20 ECTS in business, management and law.
Evidence of the required ECTS credits must be submitted in full by the application deadline; documents cannot be submitted after the deadline has passed. Proof of English language proficiency may be submitted up to the start of lectures; in this case admission is granted subject to reservation.
English language proficiency must be evidenced at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference. Acceptable evidence includes TOEFL iBT with at least 95 points, IELTS Academic with at least 7.0 points, Cambridge English: B2 First (FCE) or higher, or a completed English-taught bachelor's degree. Other equivalent forms of evidence are possible; the selection committee decides on equivalence. The language proof is not required if at least 15 ECTS of English-taught courses were successfully completed during the bachelor's programme.
No German language skills are required, as the programme is fully delivered in English.
Selection procedure
The selection procedure is single-stage and based on the bachelor's final grade and any relevant professional experience gained after the bachelor's degree.
The selection score is calculated as follows:
Selection score = bachelor's final grade − professional experience bonus.
The professional experience bonus for relevant work activity after the bachelor's degree is:
- from nine months: 0.1,
- from 21 months: 0.2,
- from 33 months: 0.3.
Relevant activities include in particular work in the fields of artificial intelligence, digitalisation, transformation, project management, process management, product management, innovation management, software development, data science, business development or comparable areas.
No selection interview is conducted. A subject-specific aptitude test (e.g. GMAT, GRE) is not part of the selection procedure.
Quota for international applicants
Because the programme is delivered entirely in English, is designed for an international audience and leads to an internationally connectable degree, a quota of 40 percent for applicants who are not equivalent to German nationals applies pursuant to § 6a HZG BW in conjunction with § 33 HZVO BW.
The ranking on the list for international applicants is determined by the bachelor's final grade. In case of equal rank, the place is allocated by lot. Study places of this quota that are not taken up are allocated in the general selection procedure.
How to apply
- Prepare your application documents. Higher education certificate, transcript, English proof, where applicable evidence of relevant professional experience.
- Submit your online application. Applications are submitted exclusively via the central HTWG application portal within the relevant deadline.
- Selection and admission decision. Admission is based on a ranking; there is no selection interview and no aptitude test.
International applicants
If you obtained your degree outside Germany, additional requirements apply to the form and certification of your documents. You upload your documents digitally for the online application; for enrolment you must present the originals or officially certified copies. Depending on your country of origin, further evidence of the authenticity of your certificates may be required.

Costs. A semester fee is charged for each semester of study at HTWG Konstanz. Students from countries outside the EU and the EEA additionally pay the tuition fee for international students set by the state of Baden-Württemberg, currently 1,500 euros per semester.
