    Costs and Financing the Studienkolleg Program

    Cost of living
    The average cost of studying in Germany is approximately 860 EUR per month. This includes the estimated costs for accommodations, food, leisure activities, teaching materials, semester fees and health insurance.

    Tuition fees in Baden-Württemberg

    Students in the Studienkolleg do NOT have to pay tuition fees. You are only required to pay an administrative fee of 162.50 EUR per semester.
    Tuition fees for international students from non-EU countries for all degree programs at universities in Baden-Württemberg amount to 1,500 EUR per semester plus the additional 162.50 EUR administrative fees per semester.


    Health insurance

    If you attend the Studienkolleg or study at a university, you must have health insurance. The costs are about 60 EUR per month. A few well-known insurance companies include: Care Concept, Mawista student classic and the Würzburger Versicherungen.

    Scholarships

    Financing Your Studies

    We have compiled an overview of funding opportunities for you below. Scholarships are only available for students in specialized studies. We are not aware of any scholarships for students in the Studienkolleg. The universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg themselves do not award any scholarships.

    Funding under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG)
    According to the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG), foreigners can only be supported in the following cases:

    • Children of EU nationals, provided they have a residence permit in an EU country.
    • A foreigner entitled to asylum, if one parent is German (under certain conditions)
    • A foreigner who has resided in Germany for a total of five years prior to the start of their studies and has been gainfully employed during this time OR if one parent has resided in Germany for three of the last six years and has been gainfully employed during this time.
