    Code of Conduct

The following is a summary of the most important aspects of our code of conduct that forms the basis for the success of the Asian Studies Department:

Openness for new knowledge: Students are responsible for their own personal and professional development. They make use of the growth opportunities and freedoms available at our university - and our faculty provides students with the appropriate learning formats, projects and a supportive learning environment.

Taking advantage of advising opportunities: Students make use of the individual advising opportunities available in the department. All faculty members have weekly office hours. Students can also set up individual advising and coaching appointments.

Recognizing networking opportunities: Students play an active role in their courses and seminars, and view themselves as equally responsible for their own academic training: They take part in mandatory and elective courses, actively prepare for and review course content, take advantage of networking opportunities, and work responsibly in teams and interactive formats.

    Responsibility and Etiquette

Students are expected to work in a self-reliant manner to manage their own mental and time resources in a responsible and professional manner. Students are punctual, actively seek information, are aware of relevant guidelines and communicate effectively via email. They present the faculty with clearly articulated questions and requests; the faculty provides clear answers.

Students observe all applicable laws, ethical principles, as well as codes of conduct that make professional cooperation in the program possible.

Students are respectful, honest and tolerant towards all university students and staff. Both students and faculty use appropriate and polite etiquette in oral and e-mail / written communication.

Students adhere to the following classroom guidelines: Eating, telephoning, surfing the Internet without permission, or disturbing lessons are not allowed in classes. Audio and/or video recordings are only allowed with the express consent of all involved parties, due to the fact that they breach the lecturer’s copyright and the General Right of Privacy (APR) for all individuals present in the room.
